Affordable Housing

Affordable housing within the project has been discussed within the community. The project team has met with the Director of Housing and Human Concerns to discuss the affordable needs of the project. The project will provide for affordable housing in the low, moderate and median income ranges consistent with the Kihei/Makena Community Plan. This range of housing will address the concerns of the department and the current needs of the community. In its discussions with the public, administration and Planning Commission, the project team has stressed repeatedly that affordable housing is an important element of any community and that the project will accommodate this need. Some of the project’s affordable housing component may be located outside of the project in an area located closer to public infrastructure in the greater Kihei community.
